Sunday School – May 26, 2013 ~ The Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1–12)

The Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1–12) is final lesson for the Spring Program. Here Jesus explains in His Word that He was poor, hungry, sorrowful, hated, and rejected for our sake so that God would grant us His gifts and blessings. As you discuss this passage with your children, talk about how sin blinds us to trust in our own ways, riches, confidence, and influence, but that Jesus offers us all things through faith in Him. He alone grants us eternal riches and blessings. Point out that the Beatitudes are statements of fact, already true for us in Jesus, who in His love took our sorrow, trouble, and sin upon Himself that we might have a heavenly reward.
